Are there any errors in this college essay What can I improve? English majors, I beg you!?

I recently spent three days with my biology cl at the Niobrara River Valley Preserve in North-central Nebraska. We excavated fossils, took water samples for later ysis in the clroom, calculated the river's flow rate, and performed a population study of rodents. Most remarkably, a majority of the coordination was left up to us students. For the first time in my academic experience, us students were treated not as children that needed constant supervision, but as adults capable of directing our own concerns. It was a very liberating experience; I feel most adults don't fully realize what advanced students are capable of when we are left to our own direction, but at the edge of the Niobrara we proved our abilities.
