How can I quit smoking? (Ex-smokers' advice please)?

I have problems with other habits as well.. I found that haloperidol helped me keep from biting my fingernails for it was actually a kind of "tic" due to tourettes.. A lot of people I know say that it's easy to quit smoking - for I don't know if I can.. It's probably one of the most enjoying things I can do.. It really is a crutch for me... I found that "Chantix" works incredibly well, - I quit for 2 months without looking back - however finding out my husband never quit like he said he did (he was hiding it from me) - I started again out of spite.. which was really dumb.. I started on Chantix again and it made me suicidal.. Which I found out that is a side-effect from Chantix.. I am sick of the headaches and right now I am starting my yearly bronchitis again.. I can't cough up the gunk in my lungs and I really want to quit.. I don't know what else to do.. Cold turkey isn't an option for me because it is like giving up...air.. It's impossible.. Plus my husband smokes so that makes it doubly difficult to quit.. I am willing to take medications as long as they don't have nicotine in them, because that doesn't get me away from nicotine.. It keeps the addiction alive.. Is there any improvements on Chantix yet? - Some that don't cause depression and/or suicidal tendencies?.. I would like some other advice than just "just throw them away and quit - it's easy" - because it is anything but easy for me.. I have tried that.. (I've been smoking since I was 18 years old.. and I'll be 33 in July.. So it has been almost 15 years now.. goodness I'm getting old)

Married couple going into USAF. I have guaranteed job as an Air Traffic Controller. Any Advice?

My husband are both in the DEP for the USAF for just a couple more months. I am excited to go but a little at a loss for what to expect. I know that being an air traffic controller is (from what I've heard and read) a very stressful and demanding job. Not only that, I heard that there is a very high "wash out" rate for the Air Traffic Control tech school. If this is still true, why and how(other than just "it's difficult")? I am anxious to hear from anyone with any personal experience with this career in the Air Force. I would also like to hear any tips on how to keep a marriage a happy one (no current problems with my husband) with a job that could be very stressful (or for a couple in which both are in the Air Force). im not worried about those who are learning english or who dont speak english perfectly. i know i dont. i dont think in casual conversation that we need to speak perfect english, but dont you think that everyone should have perfect or at least near perfect english speaking skills? what happens when our dialects are so far removed from their roots? do you think we should at least know how to speak the same language so that we can communicate efficiently when we need to? im not saying we should have laws on this, but i think we should reconsider disregarding the english language, at least here in the u.s. an in other english speaking countries. im 19 and the grammatical errors as well as the critical thinking skills of my generation scares me. i just see a lot of stupid stuff out there.

What causes stomach/acid indegestion if I never have had it but now I've got it twice lately and it HURTS BAD?

About 6 months ago, i started having chest and throat pains that were severe.. something I never felt before. I thought I was bad sick so I went to the dr and they did all kind of tests and determined it was acid indegestion and gave me aciphex and after a few days it was gone. I dont have those anymore, and last week I started getting a similar pain, but lower on my chest almost in my stomach. It hurt so bad I started thinking I had tweaked my back because the pain was so bad it hurt my back too. I started thinking and thought ok maybe this was the indegestion again even tho the pain was in a diff place kinda (lower down my chest) but it worked. I took some over the counter acid ind. & sour stomach pills and it helped. So what can cause this out of the blue?! I'm 25 male, and its only happened twice to me.. but im afraid it will happen again. Do I need to change my diet or soemthing?!

On Jan 1,2000 I decided to go in a diet and wrote my weight and the date on a slip of paper and put it in my bathroom drawer, In Nov. my doctor found I am diabetic. I begged not to be put on the pills and she said she would give me 3 months to get my sugar under control (By the way I stilled weighed the same as 2000) In the next 13 weeks I lost 4 pounds. and I am still loosing. I eat no sugar, white bread, white potatoes. no pasta, no rice, no er. I live on chicken and fish, salad and soup (Not cream ) and I feel wonderful and I am starting to feel happier and this is an answer if you want it. I need some help answering questions of the Texas Teacher Retirement System. My boyfriend's mom works for the school district and is considering retiring next year or by the end of this school year. She came to me about TRS and how it works. I tried to look online and see what I could help her with but it's all lingo I can't figure. Plus I'm not really sure what she's asking or if it's possible. She did mention that she thinks she still has to work five more years for school district but she's already 62. And social security is a whole another ball game she and I are trying to figure out. How does teacher retirement work? (googling this question didn't help). Is there any way she can pull out some of her retirement just for the summer since there is no work during summer? (she is part of the cafeteria staff). Can she pul out social security at same time? *(she also doesnt have very many um ? credits i guess its called for social security because she didn't work much. she also asked me if i could find out if Teacher's Retirement could give out some kind of loans for her? I recently spent three days with my biology cl at the Niobrara River Valley Preserve in North-central Nebraska. We excavated fossils, took water samples for later ysis in the clroom, calculated the river's flow rate, and performed a population study of rodents. Most remarkably, a majority of the coordination was left up to us students. For the first time in my academic experience, us students were treated not as children that needed constant supervision, but as adults capable of directing our own concerns. It was a very liberating experience; I feel most adults don't fully realize what advanced students are capable of when we are left to our own direction, but at the edge of the Niobrara we proved our abilities.

Since the beginning of summer I have been constantly afraid of my health. Over the summer I have developed like chest pain, indigestion, im always tired, etc. I went to the doctor in june and he listened to my heart and lung function and told me they were both absolutely fine. That helped for a little while. Now for like the past week or so my chest has felt kind of full almost like there's a pressure coming from the inside. Everything I eat seems to give me indigestion. The chest pain is definately worse after eating but it is also worse when I feel myself freaking out about it. It tends to be on the left side which is what really scares me! I just can't seem to accept my doctors diagnosis of nothing being wrong with me! I never had any of these pains before I started being completely obsessed with every little bodily function I have. I am supposed to go skiing tomorrow but there's a little thing in the back of my head freaking me out about this chest pain. I am 20 years old 6' 4'' and am as of late pretty active. There is no family history of heart disease or anything. I am wondering if I should be worried about anything cardiac or if this is just from anxiety. Should I listen to my doctor???

Mountain bike gloves?

Hey, I'm an intermediate mountain biker and i like taking jumps and i want to be able to do some riding in the winter so i was leaning towards the full glove with all fingers. I would say a mive air bubble, or someone used stop leak in the coolant system and its plugged. I would recomend, if you have the money, take the car to a shop that can pressure fill the coolant system. That will not only remove all air, but will immediately tell you if there is a blockage. If you dont have the cash try this..... Bmw says to bleed the coolant system with the little screw.....well dont, waste of time....fill car up with coolant and run it till hot... let cool and remove your cap....air will escape and your fluid level will lower if there was any air in it after filling it. If so, add more fluid and repeat. I do my own services, and although a pain and a lil time consuming(about a day), I save alot of money.

Little boys with different personalities?

I have two little boys. My oldest is 3 and my youngest is 8 months. In some ways they are very similar, but in others they are completely different. One major way that they are different is the way that they show affection. My youngest is a big cuddler. He would love to do nothing but sit with me and snuggle all day long. It's very easy to show him love. My oldest though is a little more complicated. He is not a touchy feely person and never has been. He fights being held, has to be bribed to give a kiss, and never ever wants to sit and be cuddled. However, he is a very loving child. He is generous and caring. I'm always trying to find ways to SHOW him affection that he is comfortabe with, but it is a challenge compared to my younger child. At this point my older son is seeing how much my little one gets cuddled, and he is jealous. But he won't let us do the same with him. I'm worried about him feeling like we are playing favorites, or thinking we don't care about him. Does anyone have suggestions for how to handle this? I'm an only child myself, so the world of siblings is new to me. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Okay so yesterday i was driving with my friends in my car. We were driving on the street when all of a sudden we saw these two people ( a guy and a girl) that resembled two kids we knew from school. So i stopped the car and backed up to see if it was them. I backed up a little too far tho and had to go forward and go up close because it was kind of dark out and couldnt see. I approached them pretty close and when i saw that it wasnt them i swerved out of the way and continued driving. Apparently they thought we were going to hit them so they jumped out of the way. A few hours later the cops come to my house with the two people that i "almost hit". The people complained that i tried to ault them but the police officer was nice and dismissed the complaint and just ended up giving me a ticket for improper backing up. The police officer told me that if the people show up to court then i will have to pay the ticket and the court fee, but if they dont then i will not have to pay the ticket and be dismissed. (He made it sound like it wasnt a big deal). He also was saying how he could have arrested me for ault and I could have gone to jail. So i guess what im asking is, is there a possibility that i can go to jail or anything? Im a straight A student (and am 16 years old) and this is my first offense for anything and i didnt hit the people or hurt them in any way. Can someone please tell me what will most likely happen because i am worried sick.

I am severe/profound deaf and can decipher speech consisting of many individual letters, words, and measly 0% & 5% word recognition score for sentences (I should deserve a recognition score of 5% if i hear the sentences directly from a person, not through a P.A. system. 0% recognition score is given for P.A. system speaking.). % of the sentences. I speak unintelligibly because I never have a chance to learn to speak. In conclusion, my brain is very reluctant to decipher speech for more than 5% recognition scores as long as I am hearing in sentences, but individual words are very intelligible. My audiogram is: 75 dB @ 250 Hz, 90 dB @ 500 Hz, 100 dB @ 1,000 Hz, 115 dB @ 2,000 Hz, 115 dB @ 4,000 Hz, 85 dB @ 8,000 Hz. I consider getting Cochlear Implant or Envoy Esteem Implant in the intermediate term, but I plan to seek ENT specialist someday.

I don't think my bunny likes me.?

So we got a 4 mo old bunny a couple weeks ago. The first night I had him I held him all snuggled up for over an hour. Now he doesn't let me hold him at all. He roams the living room and runs and hops around. But he wont come to me and when I get ahold of him I try and hold him close to get him used to it and he makes noises and literally jumps out of my hands. He also does that really loud t noise a lot which I read means he's upset or mad?? He has a roomy cage and he is seriously spoiled. I have a hanging trough filled with hay for him, a food dish always full, treats to nibble on as well as the hanging thing with things to nibble and chew on. he also has toys all over that he doesn't seem to even know are there. Or care. I have a little dog (9lbs) and a cat that he loves. From the first night he runs to them and jumps and hops all over them and even goes nose to nose with my cat-super cute. But all the things on line about the t and grunting make me feel like maybe he's angry? But yet he does the flying 'binkey' hops and runs everywhere. I don't get it. Am I doing something wrong?

It took me few moments to come up with something, then it hit me “CROP DUSTING”. Crop dusting is the crude sport of walking past a group or individual and farting a SBD, silent but deadly, and quickly making an exit. The idea is the group or individual has no idea where the offensive smell came from. It sounds terrible but my wife and I have engaged the activity more times than I can remember. Me being the crop duster and her my giggling cohort in crime. When my wife and I first started dating we went on a cruise to Cozumel Mexico. After a day filled with me getting a new tattoo and drinking a large amount of Tecate Light and eating a pile of Mexican food I was primed for a good game of Crop Dusting. Now it takes about 12 hours to fully fill the tanks so to speak before you can truly do justice to Crop Dusting. The following morning, me with a slight hangover and gy beer farts headed off to the ships stores with wife in tow to do some duty-free shopping. I felt a powerful rumble in my bowels and new I was about to give birth to the infamous “Mexican Bandit”. I slipped into action by rounding a t-shirt rack marked 50% off, knowing this would be a prime locale for my unsuspecting victims. Everyone one buys t-shirts while on a cruise ship. I preceded to let loose the foul demon, its gaseous invisible form wafting out like early morning fog on a cold lake in Minnesota. Then quickly making my escape to another part of the store to avoid being suspect in such a horrid sport. As unsuspecting shoppers ped through the dense sightless cloud, you could see the expressions on their faces turn for excited and happy to painful disgust. Searching around them for the culprit, only to be suspect themselves as others caught wif of the awful stench of beer and beans. My wife off looking at shiny objects saw what was going on with the fellow cruise ship patrons and knew they had been CROP DUSTED!!!. Seeing this she walks by the field of t-shirts that had been freshly dusted and knew what I had done. Her face contorted into one of wrinkled flesh and the ever recognizable “WHEWW, DAMN!” face that accompanies such powerful gas. She says “oh my god!. Did you do that?. You’re a savage!” Me barely being able to hold my laughter grabbed her hand and led her out of the store. We watched through the gl windows into the store as shoppers, one after another fell prey to the Mexican bandit . Each casting a look of accusation to their fellow cruise ship friends. All and none guilty of my crime. We heard them talking to each other as they left, trying to decide who was the smelly that could commit such a crime. This is CROP DUSTING at it’s finest. If you or your family care to indulge in this crazy sport do so at your own risk. Being caught crop dusting will leave you a reputation that is not easy to shake off. Prime arenas for this game, are Walmart, grocery stores and concerts. The rules are easy…do not get caught!
