How can a chemist make tons of profit off the peak oil / global warming crisis?

Within the next years, all the energy profit is going to come from the sun, water, and wind because those are sources of energy that will not expire like oil. If you could find a way to make solar, wind, or water energy more efficient and you got your theory/experiment/whatever patented you'd be making a lot of money.
