Is feces safe to ingest?

My grandfather is a member of the O.T.O. (Ordo Templi Orderalis) He asked me to join them and told me that he could help me advance quickly due to the fact that he participates in the XI degree. The only reason I am reluctant to join is the fact that they participate in magick rituals. Some of it is fine by me, but in his particular sect, they still practice the consumption "elixers of light" which contain semen, l fluids, menstrual blood and feces. I know the first 3 are safe to ingest, but isn't feces dangerous to ingest? I'm pretty sure one of the members died from E. Coli a few years back...
